The 20th Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of FONTAGRO, a regional cooperation unit, gathered representatives of more than 15 countries to discuss issues and investments related to agricultural research and innovation. The focus was on Technology Transfer “as a tool for innovation aiming at benefitting farmers and promoting regional development.”
The meeting, held at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) of Argentina, was attended by representatives of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela, Mexico, and Guatemala.
The National Coordinator for Technology Transfer, Adolfo Cerioni, recalled the 30-year history of this section, and detailed the development phases of technology products, the network of consultants, and the management system of the agreements.
The participants then visited BIOINNOVO S.A., a technology-based company established by a partnership between Vetanco and INTA. Andrés Wigdorovitz explained the IncuINTA platform, which he defined as “experiment” to develop logical and formal processes for the transfer of technology in animal health. Jorge Winokur, President of Vetanco S.A. described the current operations of this public-private company, the challenges faced for its creation, and its current businesses.
Finally, Celina Vega, guided the delegates during the visit to the Bioinnovo’s facilities.
