3rd International Congress on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus
Por admin en Events, NewsAt this year’s event, which will be held under the theme “Impact and Management of BVD Virus in Cattle,” international experts will discuss strategies to control this disease and mitigate its impact on livestock.
Next August 28 at 6:00 PM, the 3rd International Congress on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) will take place remotely and in free format and will be broadcast live on the Vetanco Latin America YouTube channel. Under the coordination of Bioinnovo on its 10th anniversary, and with the support of INTA and Vetanco, the Congress is intended for field veterinarians, reproduction consultants, fellows, and researchers. The topics to be discussed will be field management tools, impact on reproduction, and immunosuppression caused by BVDV.
“The goal of this new edition of the Congress is to disseminate knowledge about the consequences of the BVD Virus and control strategies to mitigate its impact on local livestock production. This virus, present in 90% of livestock establishments, causes over 42,000 abortions annually and is a potent immunosuppressor,” said the coordinators.
The agenda is completed with the following lectures:
- BVD Virus Management Strategies. Presented by: Dr. Paul Walz, College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn University, Alabama, USA. Dr. Walz is the Coordinator of Animal Health Research at Auburn University, Alabama, USA, and one of the leading experts on BVDV worldwide.
- Early Pregnancy Loss in Cattle: Incidence, Causes, and Control Strategies. Lecturer: Dr. Julián Bartolomé, Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias, Universidad Nacional de La Pampa (Argentina), a Specialist in bovine reproduction physiology, faculty member at the National University of La Pampa, with vast experience in our country and abroad.
- Dysregulation of the Host’s Immune System Caused by BVDV, conducted by Dr. Mrigendra Rajput, University of Dayton, Ohio (USA), who leads a research group at the University of Dayton, Ohio, where the interaction of viruses with immune system cells is under investigation.
- Systematic Immunization in Dairy Herds: A Longitudinal Study (10 Years of Data). Lecturer: Dr. Viviana Parreño, National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) (Argentina). Dr. Parreño is one of the leading figures in the field of national virology. She developed her career at INTA and abroad and has extensive experience in the research and development of tools for preventing bovine viral diseases.
Certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants, and simultaneous translation will be available for all presentations.
