First International Congress on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus
Por admin en Events, NewsOn Monday, July 12, and August 2, 2021, Bioinnovo organizes the First International Congress of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV), which will be held virtually.
Bioinnovo, a public-private partnership between Vetanco and INTA, is the organizer of the First International Congress of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus, to be held virtually on Monday, July 12 and August 2. Topics related to the Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus will be discussed: control measures, consequences of the infection, classification and characteristics of available vaccines, and the field results with Vedevax BLOCK, the first subunit vaccine against BVDV.
Prominent national and international speakers will discuss this virus, which is present in more than 80% of the farms, causing more than 42 thousand abortions annually.
The schedule of the first day, on Monday, July 12, will start at 6.30 pm with the opening session led by Dr. Ariel Pereda, coordinator of the Animal Health Program of INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina). Dr. Julia Ridpath, a global reference in BVDV, will discuss Bovine Viral Diarrhea: pathogenesis, diagnosis, and control strategies. Ridpath worked for more than 30 years at the National Animal Disease Center (NADC) in Ames, Iowa, an agency of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
In the last talk of the day, Dr. Anselmo Odeón, leading national and international expert in BVDV and viral diseases of cattle, will speak about the impacts of BVD on cattle reproduction. Dr. Odeón is the director of Graduate studies in Animal Production and Health of the School of Agrarian Sciences, National University of Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A Q&A session will be held after the lectures.
On Monday, August 2, the conference will start at 6:30 pm with the talk “Vaccines against Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus: classification, characteristics, and field results” by Dr. Shollie Falkenberg, of the National Animal Disease Center (NADC) in Ames, Iowa, an agency of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Dr. Demian Bellido, leader of the Bioinnovo-Vetanco recombinant bovine vaccine project, will present the field results of Vedevax Block, the first subunit vaccine targeted against BVDV, followed by a Q&A round.
Adrián Balbi, DVM, Livestock Business Manager of Vetanco, will close the event.
The event is free and will provide open access and Spanish translation. It will be held on the Zoom platform. It is aimed at professionals, veterinarians, producers, scientists, graduate and undergraduate students in Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural, Animal Production, and Biological Sciences.
